HOAC - Thunderbird District's Cub Scout Day Camp

Hi my name is Angie and I work staff for Thunderbird District's Cub Scout Day Camp.

I'm emailing you to see if you, or anyone you know, can offer any time up to help staff our camp in July.

We have set up, take down, and a week full of activities that could use some help from the scouting community.

These boys are the district's future Boy Scouts and Leaders.

For more info on camp you can check out our personal site at tbirdcsdc.tripod.com where you can view our Help Wanted flyer or you can email our program director Gretchen Hicks at missgee.tbird@yahoo.com
or simply reply to this email and I can help you out.

Our theme is Spy Cubs, and our Dates are July 7-11th.

Share with the boys in your troop, or at school that might need some community service hours. Its a great time where you get to meet tons of new people.

Thanks for your time, I hope to hear from you soon

*God Bless*

Troop 42: Campout this SATURDAY

If you were not at the meeting last Monday, I've attached the details for the campout this weekend. Some important details:
- A release form signed by a parent is required for admission into G.A.G.E.
- all scouts must bring a change of clothes including a CLASS 'A' shirt as we will be attending Oakwood church services for Scout Sunday.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Fw: Missing belt from the Ski Event

There was a leather 'Philmont' belt with an inlaid turquoise buckle mis-placed at the Ski Event. It was last seen in the back of the pick up truck with all of the other gear.
If it has ended up at your house I would appreciate a call. The buckle has a great deal of sentimental value to me.
Thanks for looking.

Troop 42: Wet and missing tents (Re-sent from last week)

Due to the frost (at our recent campout), we had to send the tents home to be thoroughly dried before putting them away for the next campout. If you are drying a tent for the first time there are several ways to dry the tents.

1. If the sun is out, spread out the tent in the sun on the deck or DRY grass. Turn it over to dry both sides. Setting up the tent in the sun will dry it out faster.
2. If it is still raining (or snow is on the ground) HANG the tent in the garage or basement.
The tents should be completely dry before packing to ensure no mildew forms. Once the tent is dry and packed, bring it to the next Scout meeting and see that it is returned to the garage.
NOTE: There are at least 3 or 4 tents missing. IF YOU STILL HAVE A TENT FROM A PRIOR CAMPOUT PLEASE RETURN IT.
We need to and will do a better job of tracking who is taking home tents not only so we know who has them but so this task is distributed evenly among the scouts.

December Campout at Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

Sorry for the Picture Quality, I got so excited about going that I forgot my camera, these were actually taken with my phone. The troop had a good time earning their space exploration merit badge.

If you haven't been, I highly recommend going, you can fill a day just looking at the numerous displays from the Smithsonian collection, including the real Apollo 13 command module.

The merit badge instructors there made a point to say that the vast majority of all astronauts and all but one of the astronauts who have walked on the moon were at one time Scouts.

And with the coming upturn in our space exploration efforts, todays Scouts are likely to make up the majority of our next generation of Lunar Explorers.

P.S. If anyone else in the troop has additional photos you would like to see me add to the gallery send them to my email and I'll add them in.

Troop 42 - CAMPOUT LOCATION CHANGE

Please note that we are camping this weekend at LAKE JACOMO, not Longview Lake

The NEW LOCATION is:
LAKE JACOMO YOUTH PRIMITIVE CAMPING AREA
CAMPSITE 4
The Youth Primitive camping area is located on the southwest side of Lake Jacomo near Shelter 14. There is a sign that points you to the Youth Primitive camping area. Drive all the way back to the gate and the campsite is on the right, quite a distance past the gate. Look for the Troop 42 trailer.

Let me know if you have any questions.
