A few weeks ago we, as a Troop, agreed to volunteer at the annual Jingle Bell Run to raise money for the Arthritis Foundation. We have committed at least 20 scouts to help with event and your participation is vital. We also need adults.
We are to be at Lee's Summit Elementary School downtown at 6:30 am THIS Saturday, December 8th. They need our help until about noon. If you would like to carpool, be at Oakwood Baptist Church at 6:00 am...we will leave at 6:15 sharp.
This is an excellent way to get service hours for your next rank advancement or community service hours for school.
PLEASE RSVP to me with whether you will meet at OBC or at the school. You should also wear your Troop 42 tee shirt.
Call me with any questions...it's easier for me to talk than it is to type for now.

December Campout at Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center

Sorry for the Picture Quality, I got so excited about going that I forgot my camera, these were actually taken with my phone. The troop had a good time earning their space exploration merit badge.

If you haven't been, I highly recommend going, you can fill a day just looking at the numerous displays from the Smithsonian collection, including the real Apollo 13 command module.

The merit badge instructors there made a point to say that the vast majority of all astronauts and all but one of the astronauts who have walked on the moon were at one time Scouts.

And with the coming upturn in our space exploration efforts, todays Scouts are likely to make up the majority of our next generation of Lunar Explorers.

P.S. If anyone else in the troop has additional photos you would like to see me add to the gallery send them to my email and I'll add them in.

Greetings!

As a chartered organization representative, you hold a key position in Scouting. While there is honor attached to this position, it is not an "honorary" one. Your primary function is to ensure that the chartered organization's Scouting program succeeds.

The Boy Scouts of America, in its relationship with chartered organizations, depends on the COR to be the liaison between the local council and the organization. As the representative of the organization, you have the responsibility to share information between the council and the organization and vice versa. In fact, you are a voting member of the district and council. the Council

To help a COR do the job, we have a training scheduled for Saturday, January 5th at our Council Service Center 10210 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64131.

For Information contact: Contact: Cindy Cone, 816-694-5151 rev cindy cone@electromethanol.com

There are also many other support items, the first line of help would be the staff and volunteers of your District. Each District has a team of volunteers called a commissioner staff and another team of volunteers called the district committee to help you.
