September 2007
Bartle Work Day - October 6, 2007
Greetings!

The leaves are changing and it is time to maintain the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation for the 2008 year. The next workday is planned for October 6, 2007. Please RSVP your attendance to jflett@bsamail.org or call (417) 646-8115. It is very important you make your reservation so we have enough food to feed all of the hungry workers.

Religious Emblems Programs

Partial List of Courses. Updates on Courses Offered by Other Faiths will be Sent as Info is Available.

The religious emblems programs are programs created by the various religious groups to encourage youth to grow stronger in their faith. Troop 42 - CAMPOUT LOCATION CHANGE

Please note that we are camping this weekend at LAKE JACOMO, not Longview Lake

    The NEW LOCATION is:
LAKE JACOMO YOUTH PRIMITIVE CAMPING AREA
    CAMPSITE 4
The Youth Primitive camping area is located on the southwest side of Lake Jacomo near Shelter 14. There is a sign that points you to the Youth Primitive camping area. Drive all the way back to the gate and the campsite is on the right, quite a distance past the gate. Look for the Troop 42 trailer.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Correction: Troop 42 Popcorn Sales end Monday - 10/22/07

    Troop 42 Scouts:

It's true! I made an error on the "Deadline and Timeline" outline sent out last week. Popcorn sales have begun effective Saturday, 9/15/07 and will continue through Monday, October 22, 2007. You have over a month to work on your popcorn sales.
Be prepared to turn in your popcorn order by Monday night's Troop Meeting on 10/22/07.
Thank you, and sorry for any inconvenience.

Fwd: Lakewood Directory Distribution details (Updated)

    From: "Don Dyer"
    Subject: Lakewood Directory Distribution details
    Date: Tue, 11 Sep 2007 09:21:53 -0500

To confirm what was discussed last night and to correct an earlier email message, here are the final details of the Lakewood Directory distribution.
Who: All members of Troop 42 are invited/encouraged to attend.
What: Prepare directories for distribution: stuff directories and flyers into bags.
Where: Meet in the basement at the Lakewood Main Clubhouse on Lake Drive.
When: This Friday night, Sept 14th, 5:30 pm
    Then for Saturday:
Who: All members of Troop 42 are invited/encouraged to attend.
What: Distribute directories and stuff any remaining directories and flyers into bags.
Where: Meet in the basement at the Lakewood Main Clubhouse on Lake Drive.
When: Saturday morning, Sept 15th, 9:00 am.
The goal for Friday night is to get a good number of bags ready for distribution Saturday. If we can get them all ready, that would be a bonus.
Parents, there were about a half dozen or so who volunteered to drive/help with this project. We could use another 4-6 drivers/helpers so we won't have to work all day. The goal Saturday is to be done by noon, culminating with a pizza lunch.
Please drop me a note if you are able to help this weekend. Let me know if you can help (parents and scouts) Friday, Saturday or both, even if you were at the meeting last night. I'd like to get an idea of who will be there so we can have enough donuts and pizza!

Your help with the Lakewood Directory project is vital. A common question is, "How long will it take?" The answer is, "It depends on how many people participate." If two drivers and 5 scouts show up it will take 3 or 4 days. If 15 drivers and 30 scouts show up it should only take a few hours.
We will be putting the new directory in a bag along with a Troop/Pack 42 information flyer (thank you Susan Escher!) and hopefully some other local business flyers. We are being compensated for our time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call.
