| Play the "Siege of Mafeking" Game Just as Lord Baden-Powell, the founder of Scouting, defended Mafeking, boys who are defenders try to keep the ball away from the center circle. Divide Cub Scouts into two teams, the attackers and the defenders. The defenders form a circle holding hands and facing outward; one boy acts as Lord Baden- Powell, who stands in the center. The attackers surround Mafeking and try to kick the soccer ball inside the circle. The center boy may catch it in the air and throw it out; but if the ball touches the ground inside the circle, Mafeking has been captured. Teams change places, and the attackers become the defenders and select a member of their team to serve as Lord Baden- Powell. | | Fall is Popcorn Season |
| | Anything is possible with popcorn! If you haven't participated in the council-sponsored Trail End popcorn sales maybe this is the year to give it a try. This is a product and program that is designed specifically for the Boy Scouts of America. Plus, your Scouts can win fun prizes for all the popcorn they sell. There are no upfront costs for your unit to participate and you get a great sales commission which may provide all the funding needed for your entire program year. | | Visit the World Jamboree without Leaving Home |
| BSA Contingent is writing home on the web More than 3,000 young men and women from the United States have traveled to England to join 40,000 other young people attending the World Jamboree. You can visit the Jamboree along with them by visiting the BSA World Jamboree web site. Photos of the US contingent in action are being posted daily. | | "Wonderful World of Scouting" Photo Contest |
| What images do you think best reflect the essence of Scouting? Capture them with your camera and then enter your favorite photographs in Scouting magazine's "Wonderful World of Scouting" photo contest. The contest theme applies to all BSA programs-Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting and Venturing-and entries should show youth members involved in Scouting. Winners will receive BSA Supply Group gift cards and have their photographs published in Scouting's March/April 2008 issue and on the magazine's Web site. | | |
